Every Leader deserves a seat

FROM THE FOUNDER

I've been thinking about this for a while.

About the power that comes from a room full of intelligent, passionate women. About what happens when we stop competing and start lifting each other up. About how much further we go when we are genuinely invested in each other's growth.

That's what I wanted to create. And that's what The Table is.

I have been lucky. Throughout my career I have had people who showed up for me — mentors who told me the truth when I needed to hear it, who opened doors I didn't know existed, who believed in what I was capable of before I fully believed it myself. Those people shaped the leader I am today. I don't take that lightly. And I don't think everyone has had that.

The Table is my way of paying it forward. Of building intentionally the kind of community that changed my trajectory — so that more women in Columbus have access to it.

Welcome to our first issue. I'm so glad you're here.

THE MAIN FEATURE

CONNECT

The Room You Didn't Know You Needed

There is a specific kind of energy that comes with leadership.

The kind that builds when intelligent, passionate women get in a room together with the intention of growing. When experience gets shared instead of guarded. When someone asks a hard question and gets an honest answer. When the conversation goes deeper than what you do and gets to how you do it, why it matters, and what it costs.

Most of us have felt it at some point. A mentor who changed the trajectory of a conversation. A peer who said exactly what you needed to hear. A connection that opened something you didn't know was possible. Those moments don't happen by accident. They happen when the right people are in the right room together.

The Table exists to make that room available to every woman who leads in Columbus.

Not just the ones who already have the network. Not just the ones who have been in the industry longest or hold the biggest title. Every woman who is building something, leading something, or figuring out what comes next.

We are built on a simple belief. That when women invest genuinely in each other's growth, everyone goes further. That the women who have climbed have both the ability and the privilege to reach back. That our collective success is not diminished by someone else's. That the most powerful thing a room full of women who lead can do is decide to be unconditionally in each other's corner.

That kind of community changes careers. Research consistently shows that women with strong professional networks are more likely to be promoted, more likely to take entrepreneurial risks, and more likely to stay in leadership roles through the hard seasons. The network isn't a nice-to-have. It is a competitive advantage.

But more than that. It is a lifeline. And every woman who leads deserves one, built on trust, reciprocity, and the genuine belief that we are stronger together than we ever were alone.

A SEAT AT THE TABLE

Each issue we spotlight a Columbus woman whose leadership story is worth telling. We are building our founding spotlight series now, featuring Columbus women leaders whose stories will set the tone for this community.

If you know a Columbus woman whose story deserves to be told, we want to hear about her. Reply to this email and tell us who she is and why she belongs at The Table. The best communities are built by the people in them.

WORTH YOUR TIME

Three things worth your attention this month:

Read: Dare to Lead by Brene Brown. If you haven't read it, now is the time. If you have, it holds up. Required reading for any woman navigating the vulnerability of real leadership.

Listen: We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle. Honest, funny, and unexpectedly useful for anyone building something that matters.

Explore: Columbus Business First's Women of Influence list. An annual recognition of Columbus women making an impact across industries. A great resource for finding women worth knowing in this city.

THE TABLE UPDATE

We are building. The Table website is live and our founding spotlight series is coming soon. Our inaugural event is set for Wednesday, October 15th in Columbus. Details on venue and programming are coming shortly. If you want to be among the first to know, make sure you are subscribed and watching this space.

And if you know a woman who belongs at The Table, forward this to her. The best seat at the table is the one you pull up for someone else.
